CQT welcomes Scientific Advisory Board to Singapore
During their week-long visit, the SAB members will meet with the Centre’s management, researchers and students to give advice and feedback

Our hallways are filled with posters for scientific exchange during SAB week.
Every year, CQT’s Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) visits the Centre to assess and give advice on the Centre’s research progress and operations, meeting with our scientists and students. This year, we host in Singapore all seven members of the board from 29 July to 2 August. They are distinguished scientists from around the world. CQT is pleased to welcome returning and new members of our SAB!
The new SAB members are:
- Immanuel Bloch, Scientific Director, Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics and Full Professor, Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität
- Patricia J Lee, Chief Scientist, Hardware Technology Development, Quantinuum
- Gerd Leuchs, Director Emeritus, Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light, and Physics Department, University of Ottawa
- Thomas Vidick, Professor, Weizmann Institute of Science and California Institute of Technology, Pasadena
Immanuel Bloch and Gerd Leuchs were officially appointed in March 2024, while Thomas Vidick and Patricia J Lee were officially appointed in April 2024.
Our returning SAB members are:

- Klaus Mølmer, Professor, Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen
- Yasunobu Nakamura, Director, RIKEN Center for Quantum Computing, Professor, Research Center of Advanced Science and Technology, The University of Tokyo
CQTians will hear about the research of the new SAB members when they give talks on 31 July. During the rest of the week, the SAB members will meet with members of the Centre’s research community, from the Director and Principal Investigators to PhD students and Research Assistants, as well as the Centre’s Governing Board.
At the end of their visit, the SAB will share their report and findings with CQT Director José Ignacio Latorre.
